Pussycat Theatre

$3,900.00

The Pussycat on Santa Monica was part of a chain of adult theaters that defined a unique era in Los Angeles' cinematic history. This miniature captures the theater as it appeared in the late 1970s, during the height of the sexual liberation movement. At its peak, the Pussycat chain operated over 30 theaters across California, becoming a controversial but unmistakable fixture in the adult entertainment industry.

This highly-detailed miniature of the Pussycat Theatre speaks to the idea that our neighborhoods are ever-changing. Today, this stretch of Santa Monica is flanked by day spas and coffeeshops, but 50 years ago things looked a lot different. The Pussycat sat at the heart of a 1970s sleaze paradise, surrounded by businesses like the Institute of Oral Love and the Academy of Sexual Satisfaction.

This piece features various lighting elements, including a pulsating red light that evokes a sense of sultry seduction and after-hours mischief. The lighting is powered by a 12V power cable that plugs into a standard outlet.

Price: $3,900
Scale: 1:30
Artwork Dimensions: 18.5”W x 9.25”D x 13.75” H
Materials: Mixed Media - Foam, Chipboard, Basswood, Styrene
Total number in edition: 3

Please note that there may be very minor differences between each of the three miniatures in this edition.
