The Original Pantry Cafe

from $650.00

The Original Pantry Cafe has been a Downtown Los Angeles institution since 1924, serving generations of Angelenos from its corner at 9th and Figueroa. This legendary diner built its reputation on hearty no-frills breakfasts, generous portions, and a near-mythic claim: that they never had key for the front door because they never closed.

For more than a century, The Pantry stood as one of Los Angeles’ most enduring restaurants, attracting everyone from night-shift workers and politicians to artists, musicians, and bleary-eyed locals in search of pancakes at odd hours.

Under former Los Angeles mayor Richard Riordan’s ownership, it became one of the city’s most recognizable diners, celebrated for its old-school counter service, white-jacketed waitstaff, and the kind of timeless atmosphere that felt increasingly rare in a rapidly changing downtown.

In March 2025, after 101 years of service, The Pantry closed amid labor disputes and uncertainty surrounding the future of the property. Reports suggest that the historic diner is expected to reopen under a new partnership with Hope the Mission, preserving both the restaurant and much of its longtime staff.

This handcrafted miniature replica captures the unmistakable character of The Original Pantry’s facade, from its bold vintage signage and striped awning to the weathered textures that made the building feel unmistakably lived-in. Each miniature in this edition of 10 is individually designed, assembled, painted, and finished by hand.
