Once upon a time finding a dark cinema to watch adult films in the company of strangers wasn’t a difficult task. However, today your options have been reduced to one… The Tiki Theater Xymposium.

In the age of PH and OF, the Tiki Theatre Xymposium is a total oddity. While still a rather seedy operation, for those of us that appreciate unusual places that make the city colorful, its existence feels appropriate.

Unfortunately, this iconic Mid-Century Tiki signage was recently replaced with a more generic sign. It is unknown what happened to the original.

This original miniature artwork was created with meticulous attention to detail to capture The Tiki Theater Xymposium as it has stood for the last 60 years. It also serves to remind us that LA’s identity isn’t just glittering tourist traps and beautiful beaches. We’re rough around the edges in a lot of places, but that grime only adds to the beauty of this city.
